The press coverage has declined and updates are few, but the fact still remains that over 3 million people were affected by the earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010.  The loss of life numbers in the hundreds of thousands.  This natural disaster has touched the lives of hundreds of HCR ManorCare employees whose family and friends were lost, injured or without homes as a result.  We know, firsthand, that the devastation continues to be widespread, clean-up and reparations are slow, and the need is still tremendous.

HCR ManorCare employees continue to demonstrate the caring culture that is our company’s cornerstone by joining together to show their support for their fellow employees.  The Hug Fund provided funding for dozens of employees and their families and for a medical relief trip to deliver barrels containing much-needed supplies, gathered by HCR ManorCare employees, to health clinics in Haiti.  Employees were able to travel to Haiti to volunteer their medical skills due to the support of the Volunteer Grant program. These are just two examples of how HCR ManorCare’s philanthropic grantmaking programs have provided financial assistance, and our employees, through generous support of these programs, have embraced our Haitian brothers and sisters in their darkest hours.
